Everyone has heard of menopause<\/a>, but what about \u201cmanopause\u201d?<\/p>\n

Officially called adropause, this phase in a man\u2019s life when testosterone levels start to drop, is considered the male equivalent of menopause. Testosterone is one of the sex hormones or androgens produced by the reproductive system.<\/p>\n

Male testosterone tends to peak in a man\u2019s 20s and then drops every year. As those levels wane, other hormone concentrations, including estrogen, rise. These hormonal vacillations mimic many of the symptoms women experience during menopause including: weight gain, night sweats, decreased sex drive, lethargy and lessened muscle mass.<\/p>\n
